Wedding FAQ's: FAQ

I know nothing about makeup, how do I pick the right look for me?

That's what I'm here for! I highly recommend having a trial before your big day. This gives us time to sit down, talk about your concerns and I'll also test out some different colours and products on you until we find what you are comfortable with and what works with your skin type. It's best to do this on a day where you will be fairly active or even for your hens night to test the longevity of the products on your skin.

I don't see a price for bridesmaids on your price list - why is that?

I've decided I want to focus on brides mainly from now on. Weddings can be an extremely stressful time with crazy starting hours. I have another job that I do as well so I'd like to pay more attention to brides and that way it's less pressure for both of us. That also allows me to do both hair and makeup for brides, rather than just one or the other.

Feel free to enquire about bridesmaids still though! If I can fit it in I may still consider taking on bridesmaids also. :)

Why is wedding makeup so expensive?

Weddings are a highly stressful time for all parties and require a lot more time and effort invested into them. Doing makeup takes time, and we also have to cover the cost of products, too. After doing a trial I'll consult you on your skin type, any allergies you may have and so on. That means I may have to buy new products to suit your skin type. The cost involved has to take things like this into consideration along with start time, location, and travel costs too.

I'm on a tight budget - do you offer payment plans?

Yes! You can pay off your services weekly, fortnightly or monthly up until a week before your big day. I require a 20% non-refundable deposit to solidify your booking, and after that I'm pretty flexible with whatever works for you budget wise. Just keep me informed so I know what to expect. I can provide a receipt for you if you like as well. I accept internet banking transfer or you can pay cash on the day, too.

What if I don't like the makeup done during my trial?

That is 100% fine. I really appreciate people's honesty and this is how we work together to get the right look for you. If you don't like the colours, if the eyeshadow is too much, if the coverage isn't right, or even if you just don't like the look, it's all OK. I won't take any offence if you choose not to book me as your artist for your big day. Many women go through multiple trials with different artists until they find the right makeup artist for them, it's super important you feel happy and confident with your look!

I'm thinking about hair extensions for my big day, do you have any recommendations?

Definitely. For weddings, tape extensions are the easiest to hide with hair-ups and the most natural looking. They don't last as long and need to be touched up every 6 weeks or so, but for the day are definitely the most beautiful. I can put these in for you and order them for you as well. I order Brazilian or Russian hair (depending on what's available) and most people need 200g-300g of hair for a full head. I would recommend getting this done a couple of days prior to your to wedding day.

Is it worth getting a hair-up trial before my big day?

Absolutely! Sometimes this makes life easier for both of us on the big day to have a trial beforehand. For a hair-up trial this means that we can play around with styles and see what suits your face shape. Sometimes a photo you see online and want for yourself doesn't always look as flattering once it's actually on you. If you have your dress at the time of a trial this is a great opportunity to piece the whole look together. A trial is $100.

Can I book you for hair and makeup for myself and my bridesmaids?

As much as I would like to accommodate for that, it's likely it's not possible unless you were having an evening/late afternoon wedding. The unfortunate reality is that I'm just one person, and if I were to do both hair and makeup for you and your bridesmaids, that would take me all day. I allow an hour for makeup and an hour and a half for hair, per person. If we have 4 or 5 people (or more) then that's a lot of hours!

Should I do anything hair or skin wise before my wedding?

This is totally up to you. If it fits the budget, getting things done like microdermabrasion and a hydrating mask can really help your skin. A hair treatment and cut prior to your wedding day is always a great option too, just to make sure everything looks nice on the day and it's easier to manage any split ends or fly-aways your hair may have. A lot of brides get eyelash extensions for the day as well. I can use false ones if you'd prefer but I can work with either.
